US President Donald Trump later declared that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was dead after the US and Israel began attacks throughout Iran on Saturday.

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a "powerful, surprise strike" demolished Khamenei's Tehran compound.

Khamenei's death was later announced by Iranian official media.

Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel and four Gulf Arab nations—Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates—that house US military installations in retaliation for the US-Israel strike.
